Meet the Staff 2018 - Kate
Meet the Staff 2018!
Camp Talooli has one of the greatest summer staffs around. With about 80% of our staff returning this year, our staff members are incredibly skilled, innovative, and enthusiastic about sharing their love of summer camp with Talooli campers.
Position at Camp this summer:
How many years have you been coming to Camp Talooli?
14 years! Kate was a Talooli camper and CIT before becoming a counselor. This will be her second summer working as our Art Director.
Tell us about your job this summer.
As the Art Director, I am tasked with planning and implementing art projects that encourage creativity and exploration. In doing this, I myself have grown and explored the many amazing amazing outcomes that a variety of media and techniques can produce. I have also gained many skills to aid my future career as an educator.
The most challenging part of Art is providing a project that is unique and beautifully developed by campers within two 1-hour blocks of time! As I continue, I hope to expand my time at Camp in order to provide unique opportunities and experiences - look out overnight campers, I have big plans!!!
What is your favorite Disney movie?
Tangled! Rapunzel is creative (candle making, sewing, painting, etc), adventurous, and kind. Who wouldn't love that combination of qualities?!
What type of career are you currently pursuing?
Art Education and Family Consumer Sciences Education.
What is your favorite theme week?
Indiana Jones Week! I can remember a tent set up in the fron yard of Duff full of old artifacts and pinpoints on a world map of all the places staff members had been. During that week, the lakeside fire was lite by canoe and there was an appearance from a very silly "boulder" chasing Indiana around the back yard.
What are the most important skills you have learned from being on staff at Camp Talooli?
Being on the Camp Talooli staff has helped me grow individually as well as a co-worker. I have made an incredible amount of friendships and memories in my past 5 summers on staff. I can also credit many of my personal achievements and aspirations for my future career to my camp experience.
