The CIT program is a national leadership program for teenagers interested in working with children in a camp setting. The three-year program begins with a week of resident camp at 13 years old, another week of resident camp at 14 years old, and then two weeks of shadowing at 15 years old. Those graduating from the CIT program are eligible to apply for a day camp counselor position the following summer, at 16 years old.
Talooli’s CIT program helps prepare teens for the workforce at large by teaching and developing:
- leadership and team-building skills
- child development
- good decision-making skills
CIT's must be 13 years old by the beginning of July 2024 for entrance to the program.

What to Bring
Camp Talooli CIT participants should be sure to bring the following items to resident camp. It is important for all campers to have these things and keep track of them at camp. We recommend labeling the items with the camper’s name.
*NOTE* We are requesting that campers pack their belongings in a plastic storage bin (labled with their name). Bedding can be transprted in a large trash or laundry bag. Campers can also back a backpack with additional personal items. These are the 3 pieces of luggage that they should bring to overnight camp.
- Sleeping bag and set of twin sheets
- Clothes for five days
- Pajamas for five days
- Towels (bath and swim)
- Socks and sneakers (must be worn at all times except in swimming)
- Toiletries (for shower) and something to carry them to the shower house in
- Extra clothes
- Extra sneakers
- Flashlight with extra batteries
- Bug wipes or lotion (no sprays if possible)
- Raincoat and sweatshirt
*CITs must complete each level of the program in order. CIT 3s must do at least two weeks - both can be day camp or one can be resident camp but the day camp week should fall before the resident camp week*
